Rendering by Robin Chiang I tripped across this while attending a SPUR lunchtime presentation on the topic of parking availability in the City. I’ll share SPUR’s description here: In 2003, voters approved about $12 billion (ed. – I think SPUR’s text is wrong here, maybe $12 million?) in sales tax expenditures to study and improve… Keep reading

Image from TicketMaster.com The May 12, 2007 KFOG KaBoom event will be a ticketed event this year with bands, fans, and fireworks galore on Piers 30/32 (where they sell DeLancey Street Christmas trees I believe). Tickets are $10 each (with some additional service charges we all LOVE to donate to Ticketmaster.com). There is a pre-sale… Keep reading

It appears as though campaign season is here. I received a blast e-mail with the subject line Share Your Pet Peeve with Gavin Newsom. I’ll save you the details and just give you the links in case you’d like to drop your 2 cents to the Mayor. Send Gavin your Pet Peeve See other folks’… Keep reading

Drawing snagged from TJPA documents The Transbay Transit Center is probably the largest public transit project we’ll see in the area for quite some time to come. I hope you’ll join me for an information meeting about the area hosted by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and others from the Transbay JPA on Monday, March 26, 2007… Keep reading

It is a bit early, but I figure that now is as good a time as any to start recruiting team members from the neighborhood for AIDS Walk San Francisco 2007. This provides a great opportunity for folks who live, work, or play in Rincon Hill and Transbay to meet and to work together for… Keep reading

Map courtesy of SFMTA This is a bit outside of Rincon Hill and the Transbay area, but we would definitely feel the effects (positive or negative). Mayor Newsom and Supervisor Peskin want to extend MUNI underground from the Caltrain Terminal at fourth and Townsend on up 3rd Street and then to Chinatown via Kearny. To… Keep reading

The photo (at right) shows the Rincon Park Restaurants project under development on the Embarcadero near Cupid’s Span in Rincon Park. It is a visual example of why the Rincon Hill and Transbay area needs a platform for residents and other concerned citizens to communicate and organize. The restaurant project might ultimately be a great… Keep reading

There’s nothing like a parade to bring folks out onto the streets of the City. I rode MUNI over to the Civic Center to watch a little bit of the 155th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The smiles, the music, garlic fries vendors, and people admiring the outfits and talents of our neighbors just makes… Keep reading
Pedestrian Safety

One of the main reasons I wanted to organize a neighborhood association in Rincon Hill and the Transbay area is because of my concern about pedestrian safety in the area. Our roads in this section of town along with further west in SOMA are pretty long, courtesy of a history of trains needing lotsa space… Keep reading

It is such an exciting time to live in San Francisco. It is especially exciting to live in the Rincon Hill neighborhood as the landscape is undergoing a huge change with many new high-rise condos such as Infinity and One Rincon Hill rising above us with their great cranes working high in the sky. With… Keep reading
