Action alert! Petition to eliminate "Beale Street Alternative" from consideration for high-speed rail in San Francisco

Before you check out for the holidays, please sign this online petition and ask all of your other California resident friends to also sign it. We need at least 1,500 signatures, preferably before the new year, to send a message to the California High-Speed Rail Authority that the Transbay Transit Center is specifically named in the $10 billion Proposition 1A ballot item from 2008 that we happily approved, and they should stop considering locating high-speed rail in downtown San Francisco along Beale Street between Mission and Harrison as an alternative because it has already been determined by other public agencies as infeasible economically and technically.
Find drawings of the proposed possible “Beale Street Alternative” high-speed rail path on pages 10 – 14 of this Transbay JPA CAC Presentation from the 12-8-2009 meeting.
You may also want to read the report California High-Speed Rail – San Francisco/Silicon Valley Corridor Investment Strategy (June 2009) to understand why 6 major bay area transit agencies all agree that the Transbay Transit Center is the technically and economically feasible option for the primary San Francisco high-speed rail terminus.
Please sign the online petition today and post on your Facebook, Twitter, and other accounts to ask your California friends to do the same! Thank you so much and happy holidays!
