Bocce Ball the best use for patch of grassy lawn in the neighborhood?

Just ran across this article saying that two bocce ball courts are proposed to be built on some public open space, and it has me wondering why we are not thinking about the over 800 kids who are in the Rincon Hill neighborhood each workday (mostly in daycare centers attached to their moms’ and dads’ office buildings) instead of building a couple of bocce ball courts? What do you think? Should we raise hell on Tuesday at the Board of Supervisors meeting for not being contacted and for not agreeing that Bocce Ball is the best use when there are so many kids in our neighborhood with nowhere to safely play and develop their muscles, eye-hand coordination? Or is Bocce Ball the way to go?

I will be going to the Board of Supervisors meeting to try to hit the brakes and to get Recreation and Parks to talk to those of us living to the south of this site. Please join me if you can – 2pm on Tuesday in the BOS chambers.

  1. With almost 300 children RESIDENTS in our neighborhood, 400 in childcares, and thousands of kids staying in nearby hotels and visiting the Ferry Building every day, without having a single playground in the whole area, the proposal of a bocce ball court vs. a playground is simply outrageous!!! We need to make our voice heard!
