Helping San Bruno Disaster Victims

The easiest way you can help the victims of the San Bruno disaster is to generously donate to the Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
There is also a need to replenish blood type O- where much was used (and will continue to be needed) for the several burn victims … visit www.bloodcenters.org to find a location to donate.
This is also a good time to consider signing up for the free San Francisco Fire Department NERT disaster preparedness training. They teach you things – like how to turn off the gas to your home/building after an earthquake to try to avoid the fires that destroyed many homes in the Marina in 1989’s Loma Prieta earthquake. Watch this video for a quick tutorial about NERT and this video for another reminder of why you should get prepared. Check the schedule for upcoming classes. Please join us at from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. over at South Park as NERTs from the eastern side of the City, including Rincon HIll, South Beach, South Park, and MIssion Bay, practice for a real incident (be it earthquake or something else where many people are affected and there’s just no way in the world that our police and firefighters can help everyone affected in a quick manner).
