Petition Asking SFUSD to Offer Neighborhood School as Fallback Option

One of our neighbors started a petition to ask the San Francisco Unified School District to offer a local, neighborhood school as a “fallback” school assignment. The urban legend (and likely reality in this sometimes crazy town) is that kids have to attend schools on the other side of the City because of the ridiculous school assignment system that operates in the name of diversity or some silly excuse to make kids’ and parents’ daily routines hellish. Please support our neighbor’s effort and sign the petition whether or not you have kids.

There is a petition to let the School Board know the community’s preference to have a neighborhood school option in the public school enrollment process. The board is trying to come up with priorities right now to guide their student enrollment process revamp, and they need to hear opinions from the community. If you support having a neighborhood school option, you can submit your support here:

Please pass along.

The school system appears to be studying this topic in detail right now.
