Physical Education Credit for JROTC Students

San Francisco Unified School District’s (SFUSD) Board will determine on Tuesday evening whether or not the JROTC program will offer physical education credit for students. I personally agree with Debra Saunders of the San Francisco Chronicle who encourages the School Board to rescind the attack on students’ options to choose to participate in JROTC by the past Board and reinstate the physical education credit.
Debra said it best when she wrote the following:
I urge readers to watch the video archive of the May 12 school board meeting on www.sfusd.edu. On the anti-side, you’ll see some students, but mostly a bunch of aged hippies, who think we’re still in Vietnam, railing against military atrocities. On the RO (JROTC) side, you’ll see some parents and educators, but mostly kids, who aren’t talking about themselves, but something larger than themselves.
