Shelter Monitoring Committee Meeting on Wednesday
|January 6, 2009||Posted by jamie under Activism||
One of our fellow San Franciscans asked that I share this meeting information with you. He indicated that some of the shelters in the City do not treat people with the dignity of providing a bed or a meal when beds and food are available to give out.
The Shelter Monitoring Committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month, and it provides an opportunity to hear and to also advocate for humane conditions and proper treatment for individuals who seek shelter from the streets.
I would also encourage you to get involved with Project Homeless Connect as a volunteer at one of their upcoming events. Obviously, homelessness is a big problem in San Francisco, and it will likely get worse this year … if you can find some time to learn more about the circumstances, you might find yourself better able to help and empathize.
The Shelter Monitoring Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM at City Hall, 1. Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 421, unless otherwise stated.
