Construction is ramping up again in the Rincon Hill neighborhood!
First, we saw the 333 Harrison Street construction project begin this past summer. In December, we should expect to see movement in the first of the Transbay Redevelopment Area projects – the Rene Cazenave Apartments at 25 Essex Street (at Folsom Street).
Unless plans have changed, we should also begin to see movement at 45 Lansing Street in early 2012. As mentioned in an earlier post, there’s even a new proposal in the works for a high-rise residential building at 75 Howard Street that would replace an existing 8-story parking garage.
If only more neighborhood-serving businesses would realize what a fabulous economic demographic the residents of Rincon Hill resident and start opening up some businesses for residents. Along those lines, we are starting to see some of the businesses that primarily opened to serve the daytime worker population try extending their hours … such as Alexander Book Company on 2nd Street opening their doors on Saturdays and Sushi Fantastic on Howard Street experimenting with dinner hours. All with time (and an increasing residential population), yes?
