Do other neighborhoods have jack hammering until 10pm at night?

They’ve been working on getting rid of the remnants of the storage tank that used to have a big Gordon Biersch logo on the corner of Harrison and The Embaradero’s Hills Brothers Coffee building (2 Harrison Street) the past few days. Tonight, pedestrians got a nice big dose of cement particulate matter as they walked along Harrison towards The Embarcadero because the BCCI Construction folks didn’t see the need to leave the door shut on their project.
What was surprising to me is that the SFPD indicated the contractors have a permit that allowed them to jack hammer until 10pm. Is that typical for residential neighborhoods to have DBI approve private contractors jack hammering cement outdoors until 10pm … or is that just the way the City treats SoMa residents?
