Possibly Expanding Number of Ferry Boat Routes from San Francisco's Ferry Building

There’s just something calming about boating across the Bay. While I’m quite happy with my 10 minute walk to the FiDi to go to work, I would certainly prefer to ride a ferry boat if I lived on the other side of the Bay. There’s a new public agency that has been set up to manage the ferry boat system in the San Francisco Bay area, and it is called the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA). Their official web site address is www.watertransit.org.
In addition to the existing routes available from the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco to Vallejo, Alameda, Oakland, Harbor Bay, Sausalito, Larkspur, and Tiburon, there are several more routes that the new WETA is considering.
New ferry boat routes that would leave from San Francisco’s Ferry Building include:
- Redwood City
- Treasure Island
I’ve requested that I receive future meeting notices and other new releases from the WETA so that I can keep y’all up to date via this blog on any progress in establishing new routes. In the meanwhile, try out a ferry boat ride … maybe with a bicycle in tow to explore some of our neighboring cities.
