With schools on summer break, kids may not have the same opportunity to maintain a nutritionally sound diet like that offered at our public schools. In San Francisco and other counties, the California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) has stepped up to close that gap to try to make sure that kids get the nutrition they deserve despite their household’s socioeconomic circumstance.
You can visit the program web site at www.SummerLunch.org to learn the details about the program.
The summer lunch program serves free healthy lunches to everyone under the age of 18, regardless of income June 25th through August 17th. Call 211 or 311 or contact www.SummerLunch.org for dates and times of service.

Do not forget to help support the San Francisco Food Bank either through your donations of money or time. It is easy to forget that Americans are starving when we’ve been blessed with plentiful food at relatively low prices for such a long period of time. Visit the San Francisco Food Bank web site to learn more about their programs and opportunities for you to contribute to their efforts.
