WHAT: Carnaval San Francisco – The 30th Annual Celebration
WHEN & WHERE:
Carnaval Festival: Saturday, May 24 through Sunday, May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend), 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Harrison Street between 16th and 24th Streets
Carnaval Parade: Sunday, May 25, 9:30 a.m., Begins at Bryant & 24th Streets, proceeds down Mission to 7th Street
Local and visiting artists featuring Latin and Caribbean music and dance
“Rock and Roll with a Latin Soul” band deSol to headline the Festival
A variety of amusements and activities for everyone including:
+ Zona Verde, the largest outdoor eco-green village in the City (new!)
+ Fiesta de Jonron, all kinds of fun for baseball lovers (new!)
+ SoccerFest, celebrating the world’s most popular sport (new!)
+ NBA Nation, the place to be for basketball players and fans
+ Burger King Battle of the Bands, a hot contest for a shot at stardom
+ Carnaval San Francisco Drum Pavilion, with drum circles, instruction and 100 drums to practice and play
+ Carnaval San Francisco Dance Pavilion, with fun dance lessons in an array of sizzling styles
+ Niñolandia, a pint-sized party for the little ones
+ Carnaval San Francisco Health Pavilion, with free health screenings and info for the whole family
Festival and Parade are FREE. A suggested donation of $3, $5, $10 or $20 will benefit Mission Neighborhood Centers’ Headstart and Youth & Senior Program, the Carnaval Artist Fund and the Carnaval Cultural Arts Education Programs.
