Grand Opening of Mission Creek Sports Park: Saturday, September 20th

The Neighborhood Parks Council, in association with Catellus Development Group, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and Mission Bay Parks Management, are celebrating the grand opening of the brand new Mission Creek Sports Park.

The Grand Opening Celebration and Festival is free and open to the public. Invited speakers and guests include Mayor Gavin Newsom, Fred Blackwell, director of the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, Francee Covington, president of the San Francisco Redevelopment Commission and members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

9:00 am – 12:00 p.m. Coastal Cleanup with Save the Bay around Mission Creek
10:00 AM – 12:30 PM Activity Areas Open
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM Grand Opening Celebration and Festival
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Activity Areas Open

(along Mission Creek; beneath the I-280 overpass)

The Mission Creek Sports Park in Mission Bay, a Catellus master-planned development on 303 acres, is the newest gem of the Mission Bay Park System. It is also the first park of its kind in San Francisco, featuring a new sports courts for volleyball, tennis and basketball , a fenced dog run, lush new landscaping, enhanced lighting, exciting architecture and more.

Come join the community for a day of fun activities, including basketball competitions, tennis and volleyball exhibitions, kayaking, dog agility events, children’s activities, refreshments and a ribbon-cutting ceremony along the water’s edge. The featured musical guest is the local upbeat surf band, Pollo Del Mar.
