CRIME ACTIVITY REPORT

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS COMPILED FROM VARIOUS SOURCES INCLUDING THE SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT (SFPD), PATROL SPECIAL POLICE (PSP), BUSINESS OWNERS AND RESIDENTS TO ASSIST US IN UNDERSTANDING CRIME TRENDS AND APPLYING MITIGATION EFFORTS WE CAN ALL TAKE.

2245 hrs PSP ILLEGAL PARKING – 88 King PSP responded to a tenant call to the front desk regarding a car parked in the red zone.  PSP located the vehicle and were about to issue a ticket when the owner arrived.  PSP advised the owner not to park there again. The owner complied and moved the car.

21:40 hrs PSP – TRESSPASS – PSP responded to a call over the SPFD police radio regarding two homeless were sleeping in front of 128 King Street who were blocking the door.  PSP  located the two, and moved them on before SFPD responded.

03:52 hrs PSP – ATTEMPTED ILLEGAL ENTRY – Townsend St between 2nd St. and Embarcadero.  PSP officers observed a homeless male checking car doors trying to find an open door.  PSP contacted him and asked him what he was doing, he said he was trying to get out of the rain and find a place to sleep.  Officers knew him from  past contact and called the Mobile Assistance Patrol (MAP).  MAP picked him up and took him to a shelter for the evening.

22:40 hrs PSP CITIZEN ASSISTANCE – 2nd St. & Townsend St.  PSP officers on patrol approached an elderly Asian lady who seemed lost.  We found a cell phone on her called a number on the phone, which was her son’s number.  The family had been looking for the woman for about 20 minutes.  The son said she got on the wrong bus and lived in the Richmond District.  We waited while her son came and picked her up.

Unknown PSP – ATTEMPTED AUTO BOOST / STRIP – 788 Harrison & 4th St.  PSP officers on routine patrol through the garage of the apartment complex observed the garage gate had been propped up with a tire jack to lift the gate just enough for someone to slip underneath. Suspect must have been disturbed by the PSP patrol as no-one was found but PSP confiscated the jack, ensured no-one was in the garage improperly and determined the gate had not been damaged.  Over 100 cars were potential targets in the garage on this evening.

00:22 hrs PSP – NOISE / NUISANCE – 2nd St. & Townsend St.  PSP on patrol observed two white males fighting. Officers approached the two and stopped the fight, determined the two were friends who simply wished to go home and called them a cab. The two left the area without further incident.

02:05 hrs PSP – NOISE / NUISANCE – 3rd St. & Townsend St.  PSP was flagged down by a person who was trying to get money out of an ATM, at Wells Fargo.  A homeless man was sleeping in front of it, and blocking, the ATM.  PSP removed the homeless person and the citizen was able to use the ATM.

04:30hrs PSP NOISE / NUISANCE – PSP officers on patrol observed two homeless individuals at South Beach Marina Apartments and Delancy Street who were making a lot of noise. Officers approached them and moved them on without further conflict.

22:00 hrs PSP AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT – PSP officers responded to 88 King where a driver mounted the sidewalk and knocked over street light.  The Vehicle did minor damage to property at 88 King.  SFPD also responded to the scene. .

20:30 hrs PSP CRIMINAL TRESSPASS – PSP officers were called to MoMo’s restaurant to remove a homeless person at the front reception podium who was stealing dinner mints. PSP removed him from the restaurant without incident.

23:00 hrs PSP SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE – PSP officers were called by security at 88 King St. to investigate a suspicious backpack that had been left in front of the building. Officers located the backpack but discovered only books in the backpack.

21:40 hrs – NOISE / NUISANCE – PSP officers on patrol a homeless person going through the dumpsters at 2nd St. & King St. making a mess as he did so. Officers spoke with the person, had them clean up the mess and advised them to move on. They complied.

21:39 hrs SFPD PERSON WITH KNIFE – 5th St. & Harrison St.

03: 10 hrs.- ILLEGAL ENCAMPMENT – PSP officers on patrol observed and removed a homeless encampment blocking the sidewalk at Stanford Alley next to Tres Agaves. The homeless male was yelling and screaming. PSP asked if he needed shelter, however he said no and left the area.

22:35 hrs. – SUSPISCIOUS BEHAVIOR – PSP officers were flagged down in front of MoMo’s by a passerby reporting that 4 black male juveniles at corner of 2nd and Townsend were verbally harassing passers by.  We located and approached the black males and told them to leave the area, they complied.

17:50 hrs. – ILLEGAL ENCAMPMENT – PSP officers notices a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk on King St. by the Steamboat condos.  People were having a hard time walking around the individual. They woke and instructed the person to move on without incident.

20:50 hrs. – LITTERING – While on patrol PSP officers observed a homeless person digging through garbage dumpsters at the end of Delancey St. by the South Beach Marina Apartments.  He was making a mess. PSP officers advised him to clean up the mess and leave the area, he complied.

At 20:50 hrs. – AGGRESSIVE PANHANDLING – PSP were flagged down at 4th and Townsend by a citizen complaining about an aggressive panhandler in front of Walgreens.  Officers located the panhandler, advised the panhandler of the complaint and advised him to leave the area. He complied.

17:35 hrs. – ILLEGAL ENCAMPMENT –  PSP officers made contact with four homeless males sleeping on Colin P. Kelly St.  They were on the side of 64 Townsend St.  They were blocking the whole sidewalk with bikes and shopping carts.  They complied and moved on without incident.

  1. 500 Block of 5th Street – Patrol Special Police report these occurrences are resulting from the homeless shelter on 5th @ Harrison Street and a club where young attendees park in this area.
  2. 00 Block of Perry Street – noise / nuisance reports appear to have abated after a string of reports at the beginning of the month.
