AIDS Walk Needs About 100 Walker Sign-In Volunteers

Please consider donating $25 or more to AIDS Walk San Francisco via the Rincon Hill Neighbors AIDS Walk team (and you’re welcome to join the team as well, of course).

With the economy looking and feeling gloomy, maybe you don’t have money to spare for a donation – but you’d still like to help with this community effort to raise funds for AIDS education and treatment programs in the Bay area. One way you could help out is by volunteering to sign-in walkers on the morning of the event and to collect their cash/check donations. I received a phone call yesterday from the AIDS Walk folks, and they’re in need of about 100 volunteers. Now, I’ll be the first to tell you that the weather is typically miserable in the early morning in Golden Gate Park, but you’ll meet some wonderful, good-hearted folks to make up for it!

Here’s a link to sign up as a volunteer. Here’s a description of the sign-in role from their website:

SIGN-IN, Saturday Orientation
7:15 a.m. – Noon
Be the first face participants see the morning of AIDS Walk San Francisco! Sign-In Volunteers check in Walkers and collect the funds they have raised. You must be friendly, outgoing and detail-oriented and have a valid photo ID. Sign-In Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and fluent in English. Mandatory orientation on Saturday, July 19, from 10a.m. to 12p.m. at the Health Sciences West Building Room 300 at the UCSF Parnassus campus. Enter at the Medical Sciences Building at 513 Parnassus. Please bring ID.

I’ll likely be out there somewhere signing folks in as opposed to doing the walk. Hope to see you there -as a volunteer or participant!
