Help Save Cable Public Access TV

Dear Public Access Supporters,
We are in the final stretch of our campaign to convince the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor to save
public access. On Monday, February 23rd we have scheduled a press conference and rally prior to the hearing before a committee of the Board of Supervisors. The City’s Department of Technology is offering $120,000 to manage San Francisco’s $2 million public access production facility and its two channels. That’s enough to operate the building, but not enough to pay ANY staff which means training and production ends, the community is locked out and one of San Francisco’s leading community-based, grassroots media facilities is out of business as we know it.
Here’s what you can do:
If you haven’t already, please join the SOS (Save Our Station) Coalition: http://accessf.org/soscoalition/ This list will be submitted to the Board of Supervisors as one way to demonstrate the level of community support. It is especially important for organizations to join.
Here’s event line up for Monday, February 23rd:
9:30AM press conference and rally on the steps of City Hall (Polk Street Entrance) in support of public access. (In case of rain the press conference may be moved inside the building)
10AM hearing before the Board of Supervisors’ City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee on Ross Mirkarimi’s resolution to reform public access funding.
City Hall, 2nd Floor, Room 263
Thank you for your support and participation.
