Support Our Local Bookstores
|June 22, 2008||Posted by jamie under Rincon Hill Businesses||
I’m not much of a shopper, but I do love to spend time browsing through the latest periodicals and books at local bookstores. I was a little shocked this evening to read that one of the Bay Area’s best bookstores shuttered its doors on Friday – Cody’s Books is closed for good.
While Wal-Mart and iTunes have become the primary outlets for pre-recorded music, independent bookstores still stand a chance to survive in the 21st Century because they can host community discussions and offer a good number of learning (or entertainment) opportunities. Please do consider buying your next books at one of the following book sellers in or nearby the Rincon Hill neighborhood.
1 Ferry Building
Alexander Book Company
50 2nd Street
581 Market Street
As an aside, author David Sedaris will be at Books Inc. at Opera Plaza (601 Van Ness Ave.) this Thursday, June 26th, at 7 p.m.
