SoMa Leadership Council Meeting – Guest Supervisor Chris Daly

I’ve never had the opportunity to attend a SoMa Leaderhip Council Meeting, and I’m afraid my job will have me on the road to Tulare County during this meeting. I encourage you to attend this meeting to hear our District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly and to meet other SoMa residents who step up to shape their community.

Debriefing Chris Daly

One of the highlights of the SoMa Leadership Council’s monthly meetings is the annual “Daly Debrief.” Supervisor Chris Daly, as a proud member of the “Class of 2000” and founding member of the SoMa Leadership Council, has been a good friend to this organization since its inception. Some of the other pioneers of district elections — Joan Roughgarden, Marc Salomon, h. brown and the late Hank Wilson to name a few — have contributed mightily to the council’s influence. Daly’s observations on the year gone by and musings on the political future rank among the most fascinating of our legacy of great conversations. Next week he’s on a tight schedule so the meeting will start promptly at 6:00. Don’t miss this one!

Equitable Health Care

California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), the health care conglomerate that currently controls five campuses in the city, would like to consolidate its activities on Van Ness Avenue at the site of the Cathedral Hill Hotel. The wisdom of clustering all these services along such a crowded traffic corridor has led to backlash from those hoping to strengthen CPMC’s capacity at St. Luke’s Hospital, their only facility serving the area south of Market Street. This is a likely subject for an upcoming meeting.

Help set the agenda

Bring along your suggestions for guests and subject matter for upcoming meetings. And as always, don’t forget to share information about political, social and cultural activities throughout South of Market with your neighbors at next week’s SoMa Leadership Council.

The SoMa Leadership Council meets on the third Wednesday of every month at The Arc of San Francisco. The public is always welcome. For more information, visit our web site at …
