Governor Shows Sensibility; Signs Modified High-Speed Rail Bond Measure Language

The high-speed rail bond measure (State Proposition 1) originally indicated monies raised from the bond issue could only be used for connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles. As you can imagine, this made for some unhappy major municipalities in between – which could affect the support for the measure. Thankfully, Governor Schwarzenegger sensibly set aside his “no legislation signings until there’s a budget” stance to sign legislation that modifies the wording of the high-speed rail bond measure to allow for some additional flexibility. You can read more on Eric’s very informative Transbay Blog about the specifics.
Thank you Governor Schwarzenegger! Please vote Yes on Prop 1 (and No on Prop 8, as an aside).
