According to a San Francisco Chronicle story, the development experts jury recommended the Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects design for the new Transbay Transit Center and Tower.
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I REALLY like the Pelli design because of the 5.4 acre park that provides the neighborhood some MUCH NEEDED green, open space (even if it is elevated) for neighbors and visitors to informally meet and interact with each other. We desperately need space in Rincon Hill where we can informally interact in order to truly become a residential area … and the park space in the Pelli design along with the future Folsom Boulevard store fronts (which I pray will include some AFFORDABLE cafes like Crossroads Cafe over on DeLancey Street in South Beach) provide just that.

Remember to send your opinions to D&DComment@transbaycenter.org You can also take a closer look at the boards and models at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for a few more days. The TJPA Board decides upon a winner on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at a meeting that starts at 9am. I’ll try to find email addresses for those 5 Board Members when I have time … Chris Daly is Chris.Daly@sfgov.org if I remember right and Nathaniel Ford probably has a similar address that is likely on the MTA web site.
Isn’t this exciting? 🙂
