E-Embarcadero Line Closer to a Reality?

I’m catching up on postings, if you had not already guessed. One news item from the June 15, 2009 issue of the San Francisco Examiner that made me very excited was this article indicating MUNI is set to get another 16 newly rehabilitated historic streetcars to add to its fleet. The additional cars open up the possibility of the E-Embarcadero streetcar running on a regular basis between Caltrain (4th and King) along The Embarcadero to Fisherman’s Wharf. With MUNI killing off N-Judah service past Embarcadero Station on the weekends starting soon, this would be a very helpful line to get people back and forth to the Mission Bay Branch Library, Mission Creek Park, Safeway, Ferry Building, and other services that are lacking in the Rincon Hill neighborhood at the moment.
