Pedestrian Struck by SUV while crossing Folsom at 1st Street

I’m sorry to say that we had another reminder about how unsafe Rincon Hill’s streets are for pedestrians on Tuesday evening. RHNA member Phil notified me that one of the staff members at The Metropolitan was struck by a SUV turning left onto Folsom from 1st Street.  Witnesses said that the victim flipped over the hood of the vehicle when he was struck. Thankfully, the driver of the SUV stopped and tried to help along with other passerby.  Let’s pray for a speedy recovery for this member of Rincon Hill’s family.

Please be extra careful when driving and when walking, especially later into the evening hours.

  1. This is a dangerous intersection. Two years ago my wife was hit by an airport shuttle van at the same location. The walk sign was on and she was walking across Folsom when the van made a left turn off of First Street onto Folsom and hit her from behind. She rolled several times and had to be taken to the hospiital to treat her injuries. Fortunately she’s OK now, but I see cars making speedy turns around that corner all of the time.
