Traffic Gridlock around SoMa Due to Fire on Yerba Buena Island
|August 28, 2008||Posted by jamie under Transportation & Ped Safety||
FYI, you’ll want to give yourself lots of time if you planned on driving across the Bay Bridge this afternoon/early evening. A fire on the west side of Yerba Buena Island is slowing traffic to a crawl – the fire department also has the southern most lanes on the top and bottom levels closed in order to set up pumps and other equipment to fight the fire (no roads on that part of Yerba Buena Island). For those of us who are full time pedestrians or bicyclists, please watch out for impatient drivers who aren’t nearly as careful driving around SoMa’s corners as they should be.
